Because criticism of Israel is antisemitism apparently. That and they don’t want it to happen to them.

Both alternatives are horrendous of course, but it is unclear which it is.
Because world is the Reddit arm of Lemmy and Reddit is extremely pro communism. China may not legally own any part of Reddit (anymore?), but they’re still calling shots. Ignore world for your sanity, it’s a carefully constructed plastic garden.
Setting aside some of those wrong assumptions about Reddit being pro communism, what does being pro communism have to do with ignoring Israel’s murder of journalists?
