Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appeared somber and, at times, angry in a blistering address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, as he sought to shore up support for his country’s war effort and demand that Russia be punished for the invasion.

Wearing his trademark green fatigues at the dais at the front of the hall, Zelenskyy furrowed his brow as he called for other countries to recognize that Russia was not just a threat to Ukraine — but to the entire world. He appealed for other countries to help hold the line against Moscow, as “mass destruction is gaining momentum.”

“While Russia is pushing the world to the final war, Ukraine is doing everything to ensure that after Russian aggression, no one will dare to attack any nation,” Zelenskyy said.

There’s a lot of countries with belligerent neighbors who so far have not developed a nuclear program watching what kind of help Ukraine gets and for how long very, very closely

Honestly I’d guess they want to keep their top tier weapons a secret from the world. They don’t want China seeing how they work and developing a counter to it.

This isn’t about Area 51 flying saucers but ATACMS and the like. Over 30 years old by now you’re not preventing the Chinese from developing similar systems by not shipping it to Ukraine, China already has a very comparable system, barely younger.

It’s a rocket, that is, not exactly rocket science any more.

That’s fine. I’m thinking the U.S. isn’t even supplying 2nd grade level equipment. I believe there’s plenty of more sophisticated weapons that should be given to Ukraine.

If US could do that, they would already have done it. However they are so far up their asses that they cannot see that Ukraine has already lost this war. Further weapon aid from the west to Ukraine, no matter what tier is, will only result in meaningless prolongation of this war and further loss of Ukrainian lives. This is not aid, this is throwing people in a meatgrinder to serve west’s interests.
The most important thing to understand is that you and everyone else in the west are being subjected to hardcore propaganda and that this is not the narrative that most people on the planet see, despite the effort to alter reality. You will slowly begin to realize when this whole thing is over. Very sad

If US could do that, they would already have done it. However they are so far up their asses that they cannot see that Ukraine has already lost this war.

Thb, there is no winning this war for anyone. If Russia was able to push into kieve and actually demand a unconditional surrender, they would have done it by now.

The best Russia can hope for now is a conditional surrender that allows them to keep hold over their most strategically important territories, namely their access to the black sea.

Meaning the best outcome was just the status quo of 2014. To achieve their conservation of the status quo they have wasted the vast majority of their war materials and trained personal. Even if they win, it cost them their ability to project hard power outside of eastern Europe.

Despite what you say, even in the worst case scenario Ukraine will have the forces to pursue a peace agreement, giving them time to rearm and resupply.

will only result in meaningless prolongation of this war and further loss of Ukrainian lives. This is not aid, this is throwing people in a meatgrinder to serve west’s interests

I think the whole point of the people of Ukraine fighting is that they believe the west interest and Ukraine’s interest are one in the same. I personally believe the west is more interested in destroying Russian hard power, but I’m not going to assert that I know more about Ukrainian interest more than the Ukrainian.

The most important thing to understand is that you and everyone else in the west are being subjected to hardcore propaganda and that this is not the narrative that most people on the planet see, despite the effort to alter reality.

Ahh, so you are of the opinion that the rest of the world buys that Russia invaded Ukraine because of Nazism? Despite the fact that their pmc is named Wagner, and was founded by a self confessed neo nazi?

If what you said is true, why is Putin so intent on serving western interests? Is Putin a US puppet? What does that say about the Russian people that they just let themselves get drafted into a war and die by a US puppet leader all to benefit the West?

“Western propaganda” makes the West look incompetent, you make the West look all powerful and controlling.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appeared somber and, at times, angry in a blistering address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, as he sought to shore up support for his country’s war effort and demand that Russia be punished for the invasion.

Wearing his trademark green fatigues at the dais at the front of the hall, Zelenskyy furrowed his brow as he called for other countries to recognize that Russia was not just a threat to Ukraine — but to the entire world.

Moscow also used threats against the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant and drove up energy and food insecurity by bombing Ukrainian ports to sow discord locally and internationally, Zelenskyy argued.

It appeared Ukraine hoped to perhaps cash in on Zelenskyy’s growing global celebrity to further international dialogue with those countries present, and it worked as many diplomats and leaders took photos of the young Ukrainian president, a former television comedian, as he spoke.

Zelenskyy’s physical presence at the U.N. on Tuesday demonstrated a more direct diplomatic approach with allies, partners and other major world governments, such as India and Brazil, that have largely remained on the sidelines in the conflict.

The American president’s speech spent noticeably little time focused on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the challenges the eastern European country faces — a departure from last year’s address — though Biden clearly laid the blame for the war at the Kremlin’s feet.

The original article contains 1,011 words, the summary contains 234 words. Saved 77%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

There are many problems everywhere in the world. War, wherever it is occurring, is bad. You do not have to use up all your time thinking about this specific problem. However, you should care about war, because, just as Russia can invade Ukraine, it can invade other countries and other nations can do it too. We should work as a society to control and ban evil activities.

If you cared about war you’d care about ANY country who starts it, but you don’t, otherwise you’d be far more vocal. Your outrage is selective

Israel has been invading Palestine for what, 70 years now? But I bet you’d make up any excuse you can to justify that

Pretty much anyone who isn’t a fan of another World War should care. This basically will set a precedent for whether a country can just up and invade its neighbor for territorial gain, and whether the world will just stand by and watch like we did with Sudetanland.

If this ends with Russia’s defeat, it could cool a lot of simmering tensions as would be belligerents realize that the world will basically throw in with the people being invaded. Or, if Russia faces no consequences, it could demonstrate that the world is truly a bunch of self-interested nation states with no motivation beyond self preservation, and we should prepare for China starting its world tour any year now.
