I don’t care what some politician thinks. I do care what the troops think. What is the over whelming thought of those that serve. Should trans be allowed to serve? Does it create a problem? Are there issues? What are the issues?
No I’m not asking for Lemmy to answer the above questions. They are questions for those that serve or have served. If those that are in the field say let trans serve, then let them serve. If those that are in the field say there isn’t a problem, then there isn’t a problem. I don’t care what politicians say. I’m going to listen to those that put the uniform on.
When blacks were integrated into the service, the overwhelming majority of those that served had no problem with it. Were there racists serving? Yes. But the racists were told by the rest to shut up.
Again I’m going to listen to the people in uniform.
Findings indicate greater heterogeneity in support for transgender service between heterosexual, LGB, and male- and female-identified service members. LGB and women service members reported the greatest support (81% and 75% respectively) while heterosexual and male service members indicated the lowest support of transgender service (56% and 62% respectively). Among racial/ethnic groups, Black and Latinx
service members reported the highest support for transgender people serving (69% and 75% respectively) while 64% of white service members indicated their support. Despite some differences within these groups, the majority of participants in our sample (66%) indicated that they supported transgender people serving in the armed forces.
Everyone enlisted gets treated like shit in the military, at least up until e-7. Age/gender/etc doesnt matter much if everyone is getting fucked roughly equally.
There is a forced class consensus in the service, which is a hilariously unexpected consequence of making explicit “have/have not” roles.
In my experience, the vast majority of people don’t really care by themselves… they might look at hou a but funny because you look different and that’s what humans do, it’s mostly curiosity
The real issue is (as in most cases) is a small but very loud minority that want power for themselves and as always in history, it’s easiest to just vilify a small group that is different in some way, be it in their skin color, sexual preference, gender identity, religion, or whatever it is.
A few lies here, a little scare tactics there, and people start hating groups without really knowing why

I served for decades. In operations. There are no genders that are problematic. Not at one end, not at the other end and not anywhere in between…
Thank you for your feedback.
