I realized recently that the only time I miss having a female companion is when I get horny. It occurred to me that if that’s deep down the largest value point I place on romantic relationships, I probably don’t belong in ones that are anything but physical, and transparent in that regard. It was kind of a liberating moment of acceptance.
I’ve been lucky enough to find some women that are a lot of fun to be around, and understand my interests at a deep level. I’d describe it as kind of like friendship, but with a woman

In your case, social status, specifically social approval from women you find attractive.
There’s nothing wrong with that. Sounds like you just need to maintain contact with those types of people to stay motivated. Shouldn’t be too hard to arrange.
