For someone more in tune with the process, honest question: how is this not a failure on ASML, who makes the lithography machines? Or the company who makes the ultra pure silicon wafers? Is Intel just feeding unetchable garbage into the machines?

There was a lot of publicity a few weeks ago about “the year long cruise” that ended. I haven’t tuned in, but apparently quite a few people on the cruise vlogged their travels. There were apparent conflicts, and with both sides wanting to say their part I’m sure more misery was shared publicly than one would normally air. This might just border on reality TV though, I haven’t really looked into it.

You might as well ask why didn’t the Soviets create an army of genetically engineered polar bear super warriors to enslave the rest of the human race.
We got click-baited into reading about Microsoft doing shady shit with their browser default settings (again, no less!), but that part wasn’t even mentioned in the article.
I’ll take “Shit I’m not going to believe from China” for 300, Alex.
DNA polymerase goes brrrrrrrrt
We had two examples of this shit in 2016 and 2020 and literally nothing has been done about it. Apparently the best that we can do now is hope an electoral college majority worth of people aren’t brainwashable by the stupid shit China and Russia post on the Internet.
Is that you, Sam?
I said not normally, meaning yes I do (and just did), but in this case I do not feel bad because Sam Altman plainly sucks ass and deserves to cry for his numerous blights on humanity.
What is the point you’re making?
I wouldn’t normally make fun of someone’s looks, but this guy is a boat anchor on humanity. There’s enough cheek there for three orangutans

I also would have accepted “Macron gives Russia a Cleveland Steamer”
Well, I guess it’s more entertaining than “slammed” or “blasted”. I’ll keep it.
I believe you are thinking in terms of a Turing-machine-like computer. I don’t think it’s possible today to “suspend” the bits in a quantum computer. I also don’t think it’s possible to know if the simulation could be paused (or even “added to” without losing its initial state).
I’ve had better luck after enabling the systemd nvidia-suspend.service (only for Nvidia cards, obviously).
First, you need to separate power hungry crypto from AI, one provides a real benefit while the other is a useless fiat that can be accomplished without dumping gigawatts down the drain. If you want to trade crypto that’s fine, just don’t use a vulgar amount of society’s power to do it.

Thanks for the detailed and thoughtful response. I’ll definitely check out the YouTube channel you shared!
