Personally, I do the exact same thing (I’m still Running an MSI B350M with a 5900X) but I can understand people that pay a couple hundred bucks to have extra ports / slots or built in wifi or whatever …
$1000 for a motherboard tho … that’s ridiculous. What could possibly be worth 1000$?

RegreSSHion is overblown … it was quickly patched and it was not reliably reproducible every time. It depended on “Luck” to have pointer fall on the right memory space in order to allow the code execution.
I think Terrapin was much much worse … and log4j … log4j was a DISASTER … but point taken.
I wasn’t shrilling my choice of OS tho, I think eternal blue is a lot worse than those other CVEs because the NSA KNEW about it and did not disclose it, and because Windows has a much wider user base of clueless users that easily fooled.

If no one has told you yet. The feds busted a child porn network in the UK that used for because they were hosting over 65% of the exit nodes at the time. If your open source anonymous VPN is hosted by the feds, they can 100% see where the traffic is coming and where it’s going

I work with these folks thru my job and it’s a pleasure to deal with them (even tho the product it’s a bit complex)
It does my great good to see a company actually being run by engineers

They have an external connector in the back for adding external batteries and the menu to do so is analog.
I added a golf cart battery to mine tripping the capacity for very very cheap.
Look in the used market.
If you want something better, Eaton is the go to, look for used deals in marketplace / craigslist. I found someone selling Used industrial Eaton UPSs with extended batteries for 150$ the set
