  • We’re ignoring the constitution already.

14th Amendment. Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

The man is an adjudicated insurrectionist. Congress just ignored their duty.

So yes, there “are” protections. Said protections are simply being ignored.

  • After all we just witnessed?

Four years stalling courts and avoiding punishment for insurrection, theft of classified documents, etc.

Getting legal permission to break any law he pleases.

Convincing even democrats that tge constitution, specifically the Fourteenth amendment, means nothing and isn’t worth acting on.

Openly planning the worst possible cabinet.

Not having any investigation or action on votes from targeted minorities get Jim Crow’d away.

No recounts when suspicious vote trends are spotted.

    Survival of an assassination attempt.

… Yeah I’m going high. 70% chance minumum if he wants to. He could just order a public hit on the next in line as a presidential act. Clearly no one will stop him.

There should not BE a timeline where he succeeded the second time. The fact that there is implies he can do literally anything he wants.

  • While this isn’t a suggestion, just want to say don’t let other people saying one person doesn’t make a difference discourage you from doing what you can anyway.

“What is any ocean but a multitude of drops”? If a million people each don’t bother because they alone don’t make a difference?

    Similar to the Starfish Story.

    Actual suggestions:

    • Aid education. Lots of illiterate youth is going to be a problem when they can’t even read to research on their own.
    • Encourage increasing plant-based agriculture and the reduction of animal agriculture. Animal agriculture is terrible for the environment, and ironically the “green” version of it is even worse for the environment than factory farming if it were done to scale with the same product output. (Hunting is also not good to promote as an alternative, because if we hunted as much as we eat we would absolutely cause mass extinction very fast.)

  • Without any studies as backing, my best guess is “Dogs have owners, cats have servents”.

Alternatively: Dog thinks ‘Human gives me food and cleans my poop. Human must be a god!’. Cat thinks ‘Human gives me food and cleans my poop. I must be a god!’

And apparently cats have us psychologically hacked to adore them in multiple ways. Like how their purr is helpful for human stress relief.

Tl;dr I think it’s because cats own you back, and a narcissist would have an easy time hating them for that.

  • No kids. They’re a huge, life long commitment that you need to be willing to sacrifice everything for. Your happiness, your sanity, your time, your money… everything.

And I’m not the type of person who wants kids nearly enough to do that.

Especially when people tell me that I should for reasons like having a caretaker when I’m older. I’m not attached to my parents enough to do that. Why would I expect that of anything I pop out? And what a horrible selfish reason to make a new human that is!

If the only reason I’d be having a kid is selfish reasons in the distant future that aren’t even a guarantee, then that’s not worth sacrificing myself for right now.

Nothing against other people who want to be parents, so long as they’re prepared and not doing it as some sort of life insurance or to make a clone of themselves.

  • There are too many damn love songs. 75% of all music does not need to be about love, relationships, and breakups. I stopped listening to radio because all the damn love songs got annoying.

Can we please have more songs about literally anything else. Weed, flowers, rainy days, animal companions, construction work, types of cars, card games, anything. There’s more in life to sing about than just relationships and/or the lack of them!

Sincerely, A person whose sexuality is “No” and has no interest in that kind of relationship.

  • Vegans simply existing make people feel uncomfortable, so defense mechanisms in the brain trigger.

Since it’s an ethical stance, and people at least deep down know that killing innocent animals for 5 minutes of taste pleasure is wrong, but they don’t want to change themselves.

So the brain tries to rationalize how it’s definitely not wrong and really the vegan is wrong, and/or demonize the position to shield itself from the discomfort of knowing.

Basically psychological defenses kick in to defend unethical behavior that someone highlights by simply existing.

  • I used to use Reddit every day. I just replaced Reddit time with Lemmy and YouTube.

If YouTube goes down… I’ll live. It’s not a life support thing like income or housing so I’ll just find other things to fill the hole.

Will it suck? Sure. Will I live? Yep. I’d prefer they put out a reasonably affordable subscription instead of just nuking themselves with ads and more enshittification, but it’s not like life itself depends on YouTube.

Their current subscription is too pricey. At least last I looked.

They can get some of my money if they put out a sufficiently lower priced option. I paid for Reddit premium and used none of the features I just liked the site before Steve Huffman decided to be super extra shitty. I’d do the same for YouTube.
