they stand a chance in the mid to low end
Theoretically yes, but everything they’ve shown so far (nothing) leads me to believe they will manage to fuck things up again.

They were really hoping for NVIDIA to come through on this one.
How are they doing that? Because the cards have RT or ML or whatever cores?
Just disable DLSS or similar features. It’s not that hard tbh…
It’s just a DLL override. That’s why it only works for FSR3+, since the earlier versions were baked into the game.
It also means devs don’t have to do anything, otherwise it would probably be like FSR Frame Gen, and launch with four titles, half of which nobody plays…
I mean, according to the name of the driver, it’s based on version 470, which isn’t new anymore. Also, that driver still supports Kepler, which NVIDIA dropped in 2021, so I don’t think why that would stop working for newer architectures anytime soon.
Damn shame the GPU will just stop working and you can’t just continue using it.
They took NVIDIA’s hand and slapped themselves with it. AMD said they changed the name, to better compare to their competitor.
Next generation we’ll get R580 to better match with Intel, since they seem like the closer competitor.
WTF is AMD doing?
I am of the opinion that DLSS and FSR is an admission of failure by GPU engineers that they are not capable,–so far,-- to design a GPU that does 4K 160fps with psycho raytracing on, zero upscaling, zero frame generation.
How is it an admission of faliure? They probably can design a GPU for that, but do you want to pay hundreds of thousands, because the chip uses a full silicon wafer?
Do you think NVIDIA or AMD should have sat on that technology for decades, until it’s good enough for 4k 144fps? Then you would probably say, it’s not good enough, because it can’t do 8k 144fps. Also, why 4k as your arbitrary limit? Most people are still on 1080p. So why not just say it’s good enough, when the hardware can do 1080p 60fps.
I suspect that the 5090 will be the first card to do 1440p with psycho raytracing at 144 fps without DLSS enabled.
Definitely not, since it can’t even do 30fps in 4k, with all the bells and whistles and no DLSS. 1440p ist probably not even gonna be 60fps.
There’s something about Reflex 2 that is bothering me or concerning me, but I have no clue what it is.
What? I’m pretty sure the technology they’re using, Frame Warping, has been around for years, and it’s used in VR, so you can just look that up and see what it does.
I’ve been trying to get a 5090, refreshed eight stores for a while. I saw one 5090, that you could purchase, 3200€, gone instantly. It’s now the “topseller”.
Two shops list the different 5090 models, none available of course, two others had 5080s for a while, before removing the listings again, although they supposedly weren’t sold out.
