I’d happily pay a one-time fee to be able to use my own cloud service like Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud.

You can do that without paying. Obsidian vaults are just plaintext files on your disk. Just make a vault in your GDrive/OneDrive/iCloud sync folder and it’ll be synced.

There’s likely a extra hoop or two to jump through if you want mobile access, but it’s not too much extra effort.

Ah I was just referring to my laptop there. I do still use Android, but with LineageOS instead of my device’s stock image.

If it was listed as Used on eBay then you’ll likely be able to get your money back because it’s not fully working. If it was listed as Parts or you bought it from a less regulated platform, on your head be it.

As for repair, it depends what’s wrong with it. It sounds like some of the switches might be dead, but if they are then you’ll want to source replacements, but from where? Do you have any soldering equipment/skills?

It might be a fun repair project if you’re into electronics, but if you weren’t… then better luck next time.

The best part about life is that you get to define what’s important to you. Some people may find meaning in having a family, but it’s not the only objective way of finding meaning/purpose. You could find joy in creating things, exploring the world, even just working. There’s no secret formula or shortcut to finding it, and there’s definitely no hard rules about what it can be. I hope this helps you feel better.

I got my last 3 phones used, all were at a great discount, and all lasted about as long as you’d expect a new phone to.

I’ll continue buying used until new prices become reasonable again, and even then I will still probably buy used because it’s cheaper and helps combat ewaste (if only a little).

I feel like this answer is somewhat warranted because OP seems to have already made up their mind that it’s bad. They referred to it as a “plague” and “filthy” despite not knowing what it even is. This comes across as a lack of interest in the actual answer and more just using this post as a platform to rant about it (despite knowing nothing about it).
