Reminds me of this:
Not sure if this is real, but you know you’ve won at life when you can submit something looking like this and still get hired.
Still, there’s no point in making it easy for them. The sooner you accept that your rights won’t be protected, the sooner they’ll disappear entirely. You must act as if your rights are natural laws of the universe, and if enough people do then they may as well be.
I’ve seen stills of Democrats waving to the crowd. In every one that I’ve seen they were exonerated by the context. The context of Elon Musk’s salute - in addition to his open flirtation with out and proud Neo-Nazis on Twitter - only makes it more damning. There is absolutely no way you can interpret it as a mistake.
The problem is that meaningfully helping others often requires self-sacrifice. Solidarity is a shift in perspective, to extend the self around others and act in the collective interest.
It’s not exactly uncommon for systems set up to oppose something to end up supporting them instead. See the ADL covering for Elon and condemning those opposed to genocide as antisemitic. In theory the ADL should be opposed to fascism, but because Israel has become fascist they found themselves on the same side as those who had been and would be their oppressors.
They’ll just make legal carveouts for government and commercial use, and go after consumer-facing VPN providers that refuse to comply. For VPN providers based outside the US, they could delist their websites from DNS or block their IPs. They can’t stop someone who’s determined from finding a way, of course, but just a few simple barriers prevents most people from putting in the effort.
When everything is propaganda, to say so is meaningless. Think more deeply and discover what particular flavor of propaganda you’re reading today.
I only watched the TV show so I don’t know the backstory, but if that’s the case it isn’t very true to life. Such strong social safety nets in a capitalist society could only ever be instated as a result of intense pressure from a mass social movement, and even then is unlikely to last. Automation will only increase productivity - which the capitalists will simply absorb in their pursuit of infinite growth - and never make it so that people can work less.
I disagree that it’s impossible for someone coming from a place of privilege to understand working-class politics. Of course, people with privilege do have a tendency to create or buy into justifications for the system that upholds their position, but at the same time privilege grants people the freedom to do what those without cannot. It’s admirable for someone with that background to use their privilege for the good of all, potentially even to their own detriment.
It seems your distaste for Hasan is based on surface-level appearances and vibes, but those same traits that put you off of Hasan are very appealing to a large number of young men who are otherwise susceptible to right-wing cultural framing. I also used to avoid Hasan because he just didn’t seem like someone I would identify with, and I was put off by the react content that made me associate him with shameless react streamers who leech off other people’s work. After actually listening to him I realized he is very knowledgeable and is actually adding value to the content he reacts to. He used his privilege to study political science and become a political commentator, and he has genuine passion for his work and a commitment to progressive values.
Edit: If you’re looking for someone with a similar perspective but without the aesthetic baggage try The Majority Report with Sam Seder
Everyone Sucks Here.
Oh, this isn’t r/AITAH? Sheesh, thought I somehow stumbled back onto reddit.

They’re just pals, nothing to see here.
Except all the liberals insisted they would vote for Biden’s corpse before letting Trump win. What does it say about them if an actual progressive is the real dealbreaker?
This is not colorblind friendly at all.
Bezos just had to know what the true hero of the story, Jules-Pierre Mao, would get up to next.
Except the moment you have orbital dominance over a planet then no amount of ground or atmosphere based weaponry matters whatsoever. All they would have to do is drop some mass from orbit and they can cause destruction far beyond even the most powerful nuclear weapons.
What you forget is that weapons are just an application of the sciences. Superior science = superior weaponry, even if the aliens haven’t bothered to “spec into” weapons research.
They also make the mistake of thinking that in order to appeal to conservative voters they have to be conservative. I have more often gotten through to conservatives with socialist economics and anarchist political philosophy than I ever could when I was a liberal trying to sway them on cultural issues and basic welfare.
And after getting through to them they started to come around on the cultural issues too.
Kentucky amendment 2, which would have redirected public funds to private schools, failed miserably. Of all the red states, Kentucky seems to be somewhat unique in its’ strong resistance to Republican attacks on public education. It is, after all, why we have a Democratic governor. I only hope that continues to hold true.
And therefore they deserve repression? When you justify the action and then deny it in the same breath it makes the denial seem suspect. I admit I don’t know what - if anything - transpired between the CCP and the aforementioned student groups, but you’re not doing the CCP any favors by responding to allegations in this childish manner.
