Screen sharing is a big social thing for my friends and I, lacking this functionality would mean I wouldn’t be able to interact as much sharing goofy game moments and watching movies together.
I tried Vencord for a while, but my friends said that the quality of the stream on their end was consistently stuttering, an issue which isn’t happening for me in the official client, so the release of screen sharing on Discord stable after working so well on canary is a welcome update for me.
This issue is only from the last couple of days, until then the new streaming has been working great.
It was working great, but version 0.554 of discord canary has completely broken streaming for me as well, with discord completely crashing on trying to start a stream.
I’ll.check.it out, thanks for the recommendation!
Pretty much! Never saw anything that said the browser client worked on Linux, but last time I tried the discord browser client it was pretty rubbish as well.
Just installed Canary on my system to test this, and while it’s a little janky and the hardware acceleration seems to stop other apps using the GPU at the same time this is still good enough I think I can finally move to Linux as my main OS. I assume this will get polished further in the future. Great stuff though.
Too right, mate.
As an Australian, why bother importing “y’all” when everyone is already “mate”?
I’m sure there are niche users for who paying the price of admission is acceptable, but for myself and I assume a vast number of other users, when I’m comparing performance of hardware I’m already checking reviews on multiple other sites, so this will only mean I don’t bother to check their site.
I haven’t visited their site in a long time though, so I’m not sure what value-adds they offered that might make the price more palatable.
If your smart tv is android based you can try side loading Smart Tube, which integrates ad block, sponsor block and a whole pile of QoL settings you can tweak to suit you.
Interested to see where that data comes from, as looking at the lifetime emissions of an EV vs an ICE vehicle inclusive of fuel EVs are generally significantly lower emissions. If you’re only considering the emissions associated with the manufacture of the vehicles, EVs do result in more GHG, but very quickly once both vehicles are actually in use the benefits of EVs become apparent.
I don’t think there’s magic one size fits all answer to this, it really sucks you have to deal with it. Avoid destructive behaviours like drinking until you pass out etc, they won’t help in the long term. Do you have any friends IRL you can call on?
Aw man, that sucks to hear.
