It was always a big deal. But back then it was often pretty obvious when it was a fake. It’s getting harder and harder to tell.

Your options are essentially to deal with it or ask them what’s up.
Personally I wouldn’t waste time with co-workers who are being rude.
They could be jealous of your position for some reason or taken offense to something random you did. They may just be assholes.
At the end of the day you’re there to work and if it doesn’t affect that I wouldn’t bother.
If they are increasingly hostile maybe have a quiet word with HR.
It literally has to run at that level to do it’s job.
Letting your employees work on what they like doesn’t seem like the worst thing. It might hurt game profits but seems much nicer for the workers.
Twitter runs a single web application.
They also do make games.
I’m sorry but they absolutely are.
They are neural networks which are some of the oldest AI tech we have.
You can hate them, but they are by definition AI.
You guys can downvote all you want but this is going to further divide the country and bring him a lot more votes.
History has shown assassination attempts to do wonders for elections.
It feels like she isn’t really responsible but you are for yelling at work.
I get it people can be irritating but you just can’t do that at work.
She likely called HR. Which is the right thing to do I would say.
Seems like you’ve been moved because they weren’t comfortable working with you. Many people might get fired tbh.
Shouting can be incredibly intimidating and it’s not something I’d want to deal with at work.
Out of spite
Rarely a good move my friend.
I assume it’s your ability to visualise things in your head. I’m the last one 🙃
I can’t speak for the younger generation but as a millennial it’s used as both for sure.
Greeting a friend with “hey slut” is fine. Saying that to a stranger would likely not be.
Although the ultimate origin of the word slut is unknown, it first appeared in Middle English in 1402 as slutte (AHD), with the meaning of ‘dirty, untidy, or slovenly woman’.
It’s never been polite. Not sure what you mean.
Calling someone a derogatory term has never been acceptable in polite company. It doesn’t really make sense.

And slut has never had a positive meaning.
Particles and waves aren’t actually separate as we were taught in school. They are in reality a third thing with properties of both.
As for detecting properties that’s a limit of our technology not the universe. In order to observe something we currently have to interact with it (e.g. bounce some light off it) It’s possible in the future we develop techniques that don’t require interaction, like reading the higgs boson field directly for example.
All computer code is algorithms.
The point is without that personalisation it’s much less likely to show things you are interested in.
People complain about the algorithms on other social media but you can see here exactly why they have them.
Without them it becomes hard to get connected to things that interest you.
For Lemmy I’ve managed to build a decent feed by browsing all and subscribing to communities I like.
You just have to do the algorithms job now.
As for the big communities it’s exactly what happened to the old internet. It used to be a large collection of individual sites but discovery was hard. So the front pages of the internet started popping up.
I expect the same thing will happen to the fediverse eventually. It’s just a better user experience sadly.
They’ve existed much longer than social media hehe
The thing is some group of people must like it or people wouldn’t do it.
Chances are this is a “you aren’t the target audience” type deal.
In my experience nostalgia is about the memories around the item as much as the item itself.
When I think about the SNES I think about playing it with my older brother more than specific games.
But also the same with games. I remember mario fondly not because the graphics were great but my brother helping me with tricky levels and showing me tricks to get past bits.
I mean it literally is. People post it there voluntarily knowing that. It’s what keeps the lights on.
