Democrat corporate interest will absolutely keep them from going after big tech. Maybe they think and ponder about some antitrust stuff, to save face, but it comes to nothing. Any significant change we’ve had recently has come from legislation in the EU.

Republicans are absolutely more likely to go after big tech than Democrats. But it’s not because they’re altruistic or down to help the scrappy little guy. They’re petty. They hold grudges. They’re still mad tech companies clamped down on them over Covid. But, they haven’t been bribed yet, but once they are, this goes away.

The problem with ads is that we’re barely removed from the era of all ads being malicious trojans if you clicked one. All ads are still malicious, just less insidious. They’ll silo you off into an echo chamber rather than brick your computer. Some will still brick your computer though.

This problem is solvable, and it can be solved civilly, or it will be solved uncivilly.

I ran Fedora on my Framework when I first got it, a couple years ago, but the battery life and sleep behavior was just awful. Love Linux on desktop, hate it on a laptop. Should I revisit?

I have another Logitech one that cost about $25.

I really, really like it. They’re really durable, easy for a kid to use, and pretty inexpensive.

Only con is if you drop it and the ball pops out, it can roll under the couch.

I use a HTPC. Using a traditional mouse is the worst. For a long time I used a Mac Mini because the Apple Bluetooth trackpad is the only external trackpad I’ve ever used that’s any good.

Then I got a Bluetooth trackball mouse. It’s by far my favorite. It’s rugged, easy to toss around, and it just lives on a couch arm.

The only steaming device I have is a Chromecast that’s exclusively used to turn on and off the TV.

Coupling subscriptions with forced obscolecence is a nightmare. If HP made the best printer money could buy, using it with a subscription model would be a hard sell. But they make shit printers that die at the drop of a hat, so coupling them with a subscription is asinine.

Logitech makes a decent mouse, passable webcams, and shit keyboards.

Just in case anyone from Logitech ever reads this, I own 2 MX Verticals, an MX Ergo, and an MX Master 2S. I love them all, but I’d rather use an OEM bog standard Dell mouse than pay for a subscription.
