Um yeah I just perused the source website and agree. It’s got an obvious anti-EV bias in both article sections, headlines and interpretations of data. The only author they seem to have for all their ‘news articles’ is a person that doesn’t even have the guts to sign off with their real name, instead using the alias ‘Kay Leadfoot’. They don’t even have an ‘about’ page, just a contact form.

The problem you allude to (blind hero worship) is really a far more common occurrence amongst the right wing, because as conservatives they seek to preserve existing structures of power and tradition above all else. Leftists seek egalitarianism. These two ideas are incompatible which is the whole reason they’re branded as opposing ends of the political spectrum.
Atheism includes both those that passionately disagree that gods exist and those that simply do not believe in deities. So you hate both people that believe in deities (religion), and all atheists. I guess you left out non-religious non-theist’s… People who don’t believe in theism but have some kind of pagan belief system.

I agree with the sentiment that Trump is incapable of self-reflection. But I doubt that the writer of the article wrote the headline - that’s usually the editor’s job I think.
The writer didn’t mention him regretting or reflecting on anything once in the article. So the anger in your comment seems a bit misplaced.
The writer is one of those people standing up for what’s right - she’s pointing out some of the lasting damage being done behind the scenes and out of the scope of the average person’s awareness.

I’m honestly a little surprised at how quickly the big tech corps have not just cosied-up to Trump and Elon, but really done their best to pledge fealty and become part of the inner circle. When the winds change in the future I very much doubt liberals and leftists will ever forget that these big ‘Silicon valley liberals’ largely turned out to be a deception. The trust will be gone forever.

The problem I have with this I put the PC to sleep overnight every night - and like clockwork, Windows wakes it back up sometime overnight to do… Something.
I’ve been diagnosing the issue for years - checking wake timers, switching hardware devices permissions to wake the system off. I might fix it for a few months and then a new Windows update comes along and it’s back to its usual routine of waking itself.
Looking forward to seeing if it persists with Linux when I move at the end of support period for Win10 later this year.

Wow. There’s a whole lot of people here reacting to the headline, and not actually reading the story. That’s important, because the journalist’s headline is (shocker) a huge overstatement.
I was concerned as I’m a Proton user and have been for years, and hard left politically, and despise Trump. But maybe lets just read it before reacting?

Corporate capture of Dems is real. In 2022, we campaigned extensively in the US for anti-trust legislation.
Two bills were ready, with bipartisan support. Chuck Schumer (who coincidentally has two daughters working as big tech lobbyists) refused to bring the bills for a vote.
At a 2024 event covering antitrust remedies, out of all the invited senators, just a single one showed up - JD Vance.
By working on the front lines of many policy issues, we have seen the shift between Dems and Republicans over the past decade first hand.
Dems had a choice between the progressive wing (Bernie Sanders, etc), versus corporate Dems, but in the end money won and constituents lost.
Until corporate Dems are thrown out, the reality is that Republicans remain more likely to tackle Big Tech abuses.
First off, I feel like I’ve read from hundreds of Lemmy users total agreement that the Democratic party is captured by corporate interests, so I really doubt any disagreement with that section of Proton’s post. My reaction to the remainder is that it’s not at all praise for the Republican party, just the factual statement of the sad reality that Republicans with their very hard-on-Silicon-Valley rhetoric are more likely to actually reign in the big tech companies than the Democratic party - and Proton is in a good position to have seen this first hand. Zero of the statement praises Trump or praises Republicans, and there is in fact lament that the Democrats didn’t stick harder with their left-wing candidates, even highlighting Bernie. I can see why they deleted it though, it’s office chatter than never should have left the cubicle.
TL;DR: storm in a teacup, I’ll be keeping my Proton mail account.
