A law enforcement source told our sister station, ABC7 Eyewitness News in New York, that the suspect’s unmasked smile came as he flirted with the front desk clerk who checked him into the hostel, and encouraged him to drop the mask so she could see his smile. The suspect obliged, pulling his mask down long enough for the surveillance camera to capture his face.

Oof.

      • Crazy? Maybe.
        Surprising? No.

Police protecting the wealthy isn’t really anything new. If he had shot a filthy peasant instead of a bourgeois we likely wouldn’t even know about this story at all.
On average, there’s more than one gunshot homicide in NYC every day and I’ve barely heard of another one of them until now.

Capitalist states work in the interests the capitalist class, so not at all. This is like Marxism 101.

Detectives in the Crime Stoppers bureau worked through the night fielding calls and tips at 800-577-TIPS and online. Police are encouraging everyone to come forward with information, even with the smallest bit of information

marxism 101 is not an option-able course in this country; instead it’s entirely self-paced and self-guide self study.

Stealing this ShowerThoughts post from Reddit:

It’s interesting how we are often told how law enforcements budgets aren’t big enough for them to deal with issues like Medicare fraud, corporate collusion, and illegal claim denials. But when a CEO dies there are enough resources for a multi-state manhunt.

How about we spend all this money and time on the hundreds of other ongoing murder investigations. A CEO’s family doesn’t need this government handout. They get paid enough to take care of things privately.

Just one more example of the perversion and inequality of America, and how the rich continue to loot the country.

Remember, those cops are getting their claims denied too. They have every reason to slow walk this…

The only people that I know of who aren’t dealing with this clusterfuck are the current and former congress critters, the military, and I believe federal employees / executive and judicial branches. Everyone else is getting fucked the same.

I know for a fact that the congress critters and the military don’t. I’m less certain of federal employees… there’s no way the president is going through health insurance the way we are. Or SCOTUS. Some low level paper pusher? Maybe they’re on the same system we are.

Seems a bit odd the family isn’t kicking in more reward money. $10k isn’t much these days.

Eh it’s enough for them to fake being upset for a good show and at the same time they don’t want to give away all that inheritance. The family knew he was scum.

I honestly don’t think I would genuinely snitch on this dude for $10M, let alone $10k. But for $10M I’d take it and make up a really good believable lie.

I don’t think that covers the premiums and deductible for even employer sponsored plans.

Waste of time and effort. We need to put our resources towards stopping big crime like stopping drug rings from eating dogs and illegal immigrants from taking our drugs, not catching some random one time killer. It’s likely a crime of passion type thing since there was only one victim.

    Different backpack.

Different style and colour of jacket.

A white man, in winter, wearing a hooded jacket in a neutral tone, with a basic backpack and a snood. And they tracked this man through NYC? Sure.

The police are hoping to pin this on a random guy and call it a day. Disgusting.

Also, THREE DAYS!? There is no evidence to suggest that this man is going to kill again. At this point he is not on a spree. No innocent bystanders were hurt. He committed a crime, but poses no apparent threat to the public. If only law enforcement put that much effort into every random NYC shooting, but we can’t all be shitstain CEOs I guess.

Anyone who takes COVID-19 seriously is a prime suspect 😷

Edit to add: I don’t know why people are downvoting a known fact: that the US police state is suspicious of anyone wearing a mask/respirator, which is why laws banning them keep expanding & spreading.
