Yet China will continue to send strongly worded letters about being “concerned” and “displeased” while vowing to not forget. As they’ve always done whenever the US arms Taiwanese separatists and builds bases to contain them.

I get where you’re coming from but this type of analysis really pisses me off. The Chinese government isn’t ruled by idiots, and terrorism hasn’t been an issue since decades ago. Even within the country hardly anybody thinks Xinjiang is an ‘unstable region’. Western funded insurgence has been a thing since 50’s tibet, and if trading with the west would lead to it magically collapsing it would’ve happened long ago. China is not a fragile state.
China should build a Great Wall and make the US pay for it.
I’m not sure why your read of it is that they’re doing nothing but being naive trading partners. They managed to open up trade and build their productive forces, without getting subsumed by imperialism, and have since strengthened ties with other anti-imperialist nations, forming a bloc in BRICS that has the potential to become an alternative multipolar power over the imperialist hegemony. It’s not all said and done, but they have done and are doing a lot without violence and without exploitation. That doesn’t mean they’re pacifists who are incapable of putting boots on the ground.
Sanction turkey and israel to oblivion. It may not be smart but boy will that make me and a lot of people that have witnessed atrocity after atrocity in palestine and now syria feel really good. Let their patrons in DC and London keep printing money for them.
The CPC doesn’t actually want Taiwan, which historically they gave zero fucks about. It’s legacy stuff that they keep repeating because of “face” reasons.
