You may already know but be careful with those colas leaning towards the sides of the tent. Buds that get pressed into the sides will flatten out and the reduced airflow makes them more prone to bud rot imo.
So you run aeroponics from start to finish or do you flip to dwc when the roots get huge?
Oh hell yeah, even the stuff not touching the side is at risk.
What benefit does DWC have over aeroponics that would make switching beneficial? Nothing I’ve seen would even recommend that, since aeroponics is the better system, and it’s not even arguable, it just performs better with better yields.
It seems like a lot of people switch to it out of necessity or convenience if their root ball overtakes the entirety of the container. Pumps can be destroyed by invading roots or roots could be damaged, etc.
I don’t see it as an advantage beyond maybe equipment preservation and I’m not trying to say what your doing is wrong, just being social. There’s plenty of resources out there that suggest using aeroponics for rooting and for starting when the plants are small and then converting to dwc as the roots mature. I haven’t messed with either enough to be an expert.
You know how it is, everybody does things differently. Sometimes there’s a reason, sometimes it’s just because. I’m just asking questions for my mental database of stuff I’ve seen but not been hands on with.
Ah yeah, no mine doesn’t get to the pump, and even a teabag filter will prevent that in any system.
Sorry, everyone seems to push their way as the only way. I could see it out of necessity I guess, but you would be doing yourself a disservice if you’re planning on doing it. With aeroponics the nutrients are absorbed faster and quicker than with hydro/dwc from the studies/papers I came across. There’s an optimum water droplet size even, my system is on the larger droplet size since it’s not a high pressure system, but using something like a fogger is too small.
Yep ain’t that the truth, and the only way to learn and get better is to do that.

From one of the papers that I came across.
