  • It sounds like you could use just about any modern portable and be satisfied.

I see you mentioned POTV devices in some other replies. Those are generally known to punch above their price point, offering excellent price to performance options. The Lobo is basically a value priced Crafty/Mighty+, with some options that even the name brand doesn’t offer, like swappable batteries. I think you’d be quite happy with one.

If you’d rather go for more “premium” options the Crafty+ would also be a great choice, but some people find S&B heating to cause a tickle in the throat (the “Bickel tickle”) they don’t like. The Firewood and Angus lines are also well regarded and widely used.

  • That looks like a product that’s meant to be vaped or smoked in a dab rig, so very likely not decarbed. It’s being advertised as “full spectrum concentrate” which is usually an indicator it’s meant for vaping or smoking, and the fancy applicator is just to make it easier to get it where you want it without extra dab tools and extra mess.

I can’t say with 100% certainty if that product is suitable for anything though since the details are extremely sparse. For future reference here’s a cheat sheet on what has to be decarbed before use and what doesn’t.

  • Do you have a Weedmaps link or anything for what you bought?

If I’m understanding what you bought correctly you should be able to do just about anything with it.

Some people eat it or put it under their tongue for a bit before swallowing it, other people vape/smoke it or add it to flower and then vape/smoke it. It should already be decarbed unless you mistakenly bought something else that was meant specifically for vaping or smoking.

I’ve seen decarbed oils and dab oil come in similar packaging before though so a picture or link would be helpful to confirm things.

  • If you have a bowl trimmer or know someone who does a good use for them that I’ve heard of is dislodging seeds from pods without messing them up during dry trimming. Supposedly one or more of the dispensaries near me use the seedy weed for the discount sales and the machines knock out enough of the seeds that most people don’t find any.

You’ll have to put up with bowl trimmed bud if that matters to you but it should have significantly fewer seeds left in it down the line. Supposedly. YMMV.

  • It seems like a lot of people switch to it out of necessity or convenience if their root ball overtakes the entirety of the container. Pumps can be destroyed by invading roots or roots could be damaged, etc.

I don’t see it as an advantage beyond maybe equipment preservation and I’m not trying to say what your doing is wrong, just being social. There’s plenty of resources out there that suggest using aeroponics for rooting and for starting when the plants are small and then converting to dwc as the roots mature. I haven’t messed with either enough to be an expert.

You know how it is, everybody does things differently. Sometimes there’s a reason, sometimes it’s just because. I’m just asking questions for my mental database of stuff I’ve seen but not been hands on with.

  • In my experience it just depends on the vendor. If you’re buying from a reseller then I tend to agree, and a lot of the newer companies are especially prone to showing a couple pics and declaring it indica/sativa/hybrid that’s the best thing ever if you’d just hurry up and buy already.

What I usually do is shop around the vendor and breeder websites for particular traits. Sometimes I’m looking for a particular dominant terpene, sometimes it’s more of a flavor, sometimes I’m looking just to look. I’ve found that the more reputable breeders still document their stuff, but that information doesn’t always get reposted to the reseller sites. Once I’ve found something that sounds interesting I usually head back to the breeder and look for the information myself. It doesn’t always work out for me but more often than not I can find what I’m after.

  • I hate it when that happens, white label seeds can be really bad with documentation.

A couple years ago I got some that turned out to be pretty good but all the breeder called them was “Ultimate Auto” which is super helpful… Or not. TLDR I found out a little about them but there was a lot of conflicting information from the breeder, the vendor, and even social media accounts. I’ve still got a couple of the seeds, the eventual plan is to do a feminized pollen run and then at some point a small pheno hunting run to see what it might have left in the tank compared to the original seed. Probably a year or two off from that if I’m honest, I’ve got enough projects right now.

  • Mine was more of an issue of trying a few too many things early on (nearly simultaneously) expecting failures. When everything decided to just grow… it turned into a massive undertaking and taught me a lot of hard lessons in rapid succession.

Stuff like bud rot can really be a downer after you’ve watched those buds swell for weeks. I’ve been there too, it sucks. Things like that are what really helped me streamline my grow spaces for the time and energy I have available. In my case, less was more.

Sometimes people like to act like their way is the best way or the only right way but I learned right away that every plant, every space, every grow is going to be just that little bit different. What works for you might not work for me and vice versa, and to me that’s part of the challenge. Being able to experience the effect your efforts have is one of the most rewarding parts of the hobby.

  • Well take it from me, you’ll never have enough space for all your grows no matter how much space you have lol.

I have tents and an outdoor grow and I still wish I had more space/hardware/etc to keep multiple mothers and try all kinds of new stuff.

I’ve been trying to decide if I’m going to monstercrop some cuts from my current plants or plant fresh seeds for probably a month and I’m about at the point where I can’t put it off much longer. Decisions decisions.

FWIW I’ve found I actually had to scale back my planting projects or it was too easy to start neglecting plants or have something silly turn into something serious. At one point I had a bunch of plants in various stages all through the house, I wouldn’t recommend it.
