This is awesome. I was thrilled to also see the sidebar redesign a few days ago. Thanks for the hard work, Alexandrite is my favorite front end. I probably wouldn’t use Lemmy on desktop at all without it, nothing else comes close to being as good.
“But my egg prices” - morons about to have a very bad 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.
We all warned you this would happen. This move was plainly outlined in Project 2025. Nobody tricked you, you’re just fucking morons.
The teenage girl shooter at the Christian school wasn’t right wing. And the African American shooter at Antioch was all kinds of messed up, if the manifesto that surfaced is true.
Wanna know how I know you didn’t read the article? Stop spreading misinformation.
After the Madison shooting, a separate social media user noted their association and tweeted at the FBI, accusing Henderson and others of having prior warning. They “need to be locked up,” the poster said, “no questions asked.”
The FBI declined to comment. After Henderson’s attack, social media users returned to the tweet: “hey so this guy literally just ended up calling a future school shooter a month ahead of time and the FBI did nothing about it.”
This is so frustrating. Random twitter users can track and identify these fucking right wing lunatics better than our own alphabet agencies. And LEO once again proves completely useless.
Meh, I fully accepted that if Trump got a second term then the Supreme Court would find an excuse for him to become a dictator for life. This is just smoke before the flames. They don’t need a measly bill to do this. It’s going to happen through the courts.
Fuck all these assholes.
An article titled “Decentralized Social Media Is the Only Alternative to the Tech Oligarchy” hit the front page of r/technology and the top comment mentioned lemmy as a reddit alternative. Although the comment was removed when the OP later edited it to include a direct link to join-lemmy.org. Which probably indicates those mods have automod configured to automatically remove links to that site. But the good news is, it still got a lot of attention. It’ll be interesting to see if any instance admins will be able to verify an uptick in account registrations over the next few days.
Is it true though?
Yes. AG William Barr sought to force backdoors in encryption in 2019. You can read all about it in the article I linked to.
People forget that the current antitrust actions against Big Tech were started under the first Trump admin.
So shut the fuck up Andy, you’re out of your element.

The Prime Directives:
Yeah, sorry for being snarky, but the Fediverse refers to all federated software. So, Fedia.io for example, is an MBin instance. Which is different than Lemmy and Mastodon but they can all interact with each other. They’re all part of the overall Fediverse. So your comment was just kind of awkwardly phrased and redundant.
Which is both Fediverse and Mastodon.
Well… yeah.
That’s such a cool idea for a Halloween costume.
It’s likely to just be some randos doing it for the lulz and IA was vulnerable for whatever reason. Book publishers have sadly been enjoying plenty of success in court against IA. They don’t need to get their hands dirty.
Yeah, I’ve see people speculating that it could be some corporate hit-job on behalf of book publishers, and I get it, that exotic possibility is attractive, but reality is usually much more mundane. It’s likely to just be some randos doing it for the lulz and IA was vulnerable for whatever reason. Book publishers have sadly been enjoying plenty of success in court against IA. They don’t need to get their hands dirty.
Of course they did. They do that every single time there’s a mass shooting now, which is daily.
Yeah, it’s an extremely popular sentiment on the internet to scoff at software update related recalls as if they “don’t count.” 9 times out of 10 the person making the claim is a Muskrat, because this is a very common thing with Teslas and daddy Elon must be defended at all costs but every now and then they’re just a run of the mill moron unwittingly parroting Muskrat talking points.
A recall is a recall whether the issue can be patched OTA or whether you have to drive to a dealership so they can spend 30mins swapping a random seemingly inconsequential part. The specific mechanics of the solution do not change the fact that a problem required a recall to be issued to consumers. Perpetuating the notion that these recalls should be considered “less important than a real recall” is dangerous to the point of stupidity.

Good for him. He’ll never have my forgiveness, but I appreciate that he understands he doesn’t deserve it either.
Edit: I don’t forgive traitors. Some things are unforgivable and 1/6 is one of them. I owe these traitors nothing and they’ll receive exactly that.
