It took me longer than I’d like to admit to realise this was satire. Pretty good read, TBH.
I kind of knew something was off, but then I got to the sunglasses and realized.
My satire meter was going off right away, but I pushed that instinct down because it was so good I hoped I was wrong lol
The reason why was simple: I wanted to believe this is how things work at Meta, because I hate Meta.
‘I traced the issue to an extremely high correlation between “Meta” and the concept of “Terrorist Organization.”’. This is great stuff.
This is like a wonderful parody of every early-aught crime show featuring a tech-heavy storyline. Some of the best dry humor I’ve read in the past few weeks.
Maybe things at Meta have changed after their “year of efficiency” but week one would be orientation and the start of boot camp and he wouldn’t normally already be on a team this soon. I’m calling BS and taking this as an amusing work of fiction.
That was a hilarious read. Thanks for posting! I had to learn/use prolog for a class in college and in the ~10 years since then, this is the first time I’ve ever seen mention of it in the wild. I lost it at Chad’s flustered assertion that “…nobody knows prolog!”
It was so obviously satire and yet I kept on trying to convince myself it isn’t, but by the last part, I was basically convinced it was, especially by the “Satire” label.
Thanks for posting this, this is great.
@snek_boi@lemmy.ml, where are you? Now this was absolutely a surprise to me, that this was, in fact, not real, just a satire (which I learned from the comments).
