Fun fact! That pill is not commonly prescribed anymore (I hope it isn’t prescribed anywhere at all really) as it is horse estrogen derived from the urine of pregnant horses! It used to be common back in the day, but these days we enjoy human estrogens instead with no extra side effects.

To be fair, it’s not human oestrogens collected from pregnant women or something, it’s synthetic made in a lab. There’s no difference in the estradiol (E2) molecule between different mammals, so the stuff we use now could be used for HRT for a horse. That’s why the horse piss tiddy juice worked in the first place!

I think you may have misunderstood my comment. I was speaking to this part of yours:

…but these days we enjoy human estrogens instead…

In that what we use now isn’t really “human” oestrogen, because it’s synthetic, and oestrodiol is pretty much universal among mammalian species.

Yep. You risk a higher chance of getting blood clots on premarin. There may have been some other risks as well, but I don’t remember those at the top of my head.

Trans women thought it gave them cone boobs, that was the gossip back in the trans group back in the day.

Lara Croft is a trans woman, cmv.

Estradiol (bioidentical) does this as well, it’s not a limitation of just premarin. I have two cones so I would know! You need progesterone generally to get rounder boobs (it promotes the growth of the milk ducts, E just promotes growth of the breast tissue itself).

Now also, as a disclaimer, what I just said about cones and prog is partially anecdotal; prog hasn’t been studied all that much yet, but quite a few transfems report cone boobs until they start prog (I will be starting it within a few months <3).

I think that tracks, the horse estrogen would have been good enough for estrogenic effects but bioidentical estrogen does better to trigger effects along the whole endocrine line. I know when my estrogen is in good levels it effects my progesterone cycle (in a good way) and progesterone in turn is commonly used to help round out breasts after tanner 4/5

there are coping strategies you can use - I’m also very scared of needles too, I have medical trauma related to them and I nearly pass out when I get blood drawn.

Some of my strategies involve heavily distracting myself, like carefully concentrating on reading some text so that my attention is absorbed in that task and I can’t think or feel anything else.

Also, exposure therapy can be helpful - absolute avoidance can make the fear worse, and being able to create positive or neutral experiences with needles can help reduce the fear.

Hey there! If you don’t mind the unsolicited advice, check out the spoiler.

          unsolicited advice here

I knew a girl that would nearly pass out with needles. I went with her to get her flu shot, just as moral support. Between having someone to comfort her, and being able to distract herself with me there, she was able to get her shot without any complications!

I’ve never used it, but they might also have some “butterfly needles” that supposedly are smaller.

Something to consider if you want to try to pursue treatment.

Also, I have gotten quite a few needles for various reasons. (I have a lot of health problems.) Blood donations were pretty much the worst. Vaccinations didn’t hurt until the later soreness. IVs aren’t great. But giving blood for a test? I think those needles aren’t so bad. The little pinch from that is the easiest of all the options I’ve had.

          Good luck!
